Well, I decided to look around for my favorite shows and see what new is coming my way as mid-season is upon us.
Alias: Expected to start back up in March, but no firm date announced. Is this because Jennifer has decided to go on to do other things? Fans of Alias gave her the star status she has today, first Ben, now your not returning my calls, Jenny?
Carnivale: HBO decided to cancel this show, when it achieved a cult following. No better time than after a cliff-hanger to halt production, I always say.
After a two-season (24 episode) run, HBO has decided not to renew its Emmy-winning Depression-era drama, Carnivale . As Carolyn Strauss said, “We have decided not to renew Carnivale. We feel the two seasons we had on the air told the story very well and we’re proud of what everyone associated with the show has accomplished.”
Rome: A 12-episode second season begins in March. Caesar is dead, or so it seems. Maybe this was all just a dream, like the one JR Ewing awoke from after he appeared to die. Et tu, HBO?
Curb Your Enthusiasm: Larry David has not publicly decided if he wants a sixth season of the critically acclaimed show. He did the same thing with Seinfeld. He kept leaving and eventually coming back. Let’s face it, this show isn’t entirely made up, it may be exaggerated, but it’s about Larry himself and all his oddness.
Stargate (SG-1 and Atlantis): New episodes are playing on Friday nights on SciFi.
Surface: The next two Mondays host the “final two episodes” of this great show. The question is, can ratings and fan rantings keep it on the air for a second season?
Smallville: Continues a solid season, while tension builds between Clark and Lex.
Monk: Back with new episodes Friday night, and other times on USA Network.
Prison Break: Returns with new episodes in March. Sadly, after a couple unseen episodes, “Arrested Development” which was also shown on Monday nights will not be renewed.
Family Guy: New episodes, with more evil monkeys!!
Not a lot else going on. I am making better use of my “premium channels” and recording some of those shows you think about watching, but don’t get around to, now that I have a DVR. Shows like Medium, Charmed, Simpsons, Earl, Office, Geek, Supernatural, fill in the gaps when I’m bored. (I’m not really into reality shows, and can’t handle too many programs where I have to follow complex plots every week.) I’m also recording some shows that I didn’t watch, like Enterprise, when it was first on. Of course, I’m so busy this week that the two new DVDs I bought (“Transporter 2″ and “The Constant Gardener”) have yet to be inserted into the DVD player. I have a feeling that hard drive will fill up and I’ll realize that it isn’t all that important to watch television after all. My God! What crazy talk!

I watched this week’s episodes of “My Name Is URL” and “The Office” this morning. I wish there WAS some way to skip easily over commercials. It seems they trick you into thinking the commercials are over, then there is another batch. Does anyone have suggestions for how to effectively skip over them? A certain number or formula for figuring the time to advance?
Anyhow, all I can say is “WoW” I only wish that MY OFFICE would have a Booze Cruise like on “The Office”! Then I could tell secrets to my boss, and feel awkward(er). On the other hand, given my background working for the government, I might have to kill him, and that would look bad on my performance assessment.
**Hint: The L33t pronounce URL = Earl. Ha! Ha!**

It was Bobby that supposedly died and Pam woke up tp see him come out of the shower on Dallas. When JR was shot some of us sort of did not care if he DIED.
I am thinking that there is something missing from Monk and Charrmed perhaps it has run its course – still enjoying Medium – Numb3rs – CSI’s – Crossing Jordan – Trading Spaces – HGTV’s home Improvement shows {inspires me to keep going with the changes in my own home] – Two and a Half Men – Discovery Channel – et al.
I rarely watch Simpsons. The others – never watch. Lost – yuck – Desperate Housewife’s – Ghost Whisperer or what ever its called – etc.
With DVR thought you’d be recording SPORTS more than anything else.

WHY would I record sports? Once the game is over, it is over and no fun to watch. Plus, I only care about sports when it is my team and they have a (slim) chance of winning. The Colts lost in the playoffs, and they were the only one’s I might have cared about if they made it to the Superbowl (Miami had no chance). There are really no sports I care about, and the Olympics bore me. (And, I hate baseball.)
