Lost in Iowa

Despite rumors, I have not dropped off the face of the Earth. I’ve been somewhat anti-social, and reclusive. Sorry. At the start of the month, I spent a week in Las Vegas, at Black Hat and Def Con 17. Good times… [Note: This will be written up soon!]

It took some time to decompress from that trip, and then I was off to Toledo for a college friend’s wedding on August 7th. I spent the past week, or so, posting all the decent wedding photos to my Flickr page [here].

I’ve also been quite busy at work, per usual. On top of the normal stress of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, the Tundra has reached a point where I either invest some serious moola, or I trade it in and get something to replace it that hasn’t seen as much off-roading. I’m not sure what to do, but I’ll have to get that resolved this week before anything major breaks.

The furnace blower… it’s definitely broken. Something about a condenser line and water backing up and dripping on the heat exchanger and blower, causing it to rust. The blower started to smell acrid, like burning electronic shit. Not good. So, we’ve been about two weeks running off the little window AC unit. Jarrett’s friend’s father runs a HVAC business, and said he can get a furnace at cost. I’m going to get something > 90% efficient, so I can get a 30% tax credit next year.

The two courses I started in February were finished up before my trip to Vegas. I was happy to have that behind me. (I’m still waiting on checks…) I agreed to write two new courses, and I’m starting that now. I’m actually going to work on that some today, and try to get in to see the dentist. So, I’m home on a Monday, with a throbbing tooth and playing catch-up on this Capstone course. I’m sured work won’t wait, so I will try to get some things lined up for tomorrow.

Being distracted by other things, and not blogging is nothing new. You’ll notice I’ve hardly Tweeted in the past few weeks either. I’m sure that will pick up, now that the summer is winding down and I’ve caught up on rest.
