Let me see if I can list the cars I’ve had in the last decade. It was probably ten or eleven years ago that I traded in the good ol’ ’88 Chevy Beretta for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. After we moved to the Quad Cities, Jarrett found an old gold Porche 944 sitting out for sale on a Bettendorf corner, and we bought it. We bought it at a good price, because we knew the engine had issues, but that’s another story. The Porche was hit at an intersection, and the lease ended on the Jeep. I then bought a red Mustang GT. Then, another Porche 944, red this time. That car died when a rod bent and the engine seized. I traded the Mustang for an Acura RSX. Jarrett found a Nissan 240sx and we again had two cars. This led to a number of cars he fixed up and sold. Another 240sx he wanted to put a red top/SR20DET engine into. This was shipped from the East Coast. He sold the Nissans and ended up with a black ’93.5 Supra, that he drove back in the winter from out East. The Acura was traded in on the 2001 red, lifted Toyota Tundra, and he had to get that from Houston (while living in Wyoming). The Supra sold a couple months after flying to Cincinnati to pick up a used Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. We sold the Evo so Jarrett could buy a really nice black RX-7 last summer. He put a Corvette engine into that, and sold it last month at a profit so he could buy an ’05 Nissan Titan truck.
Phew… what a mouthful. He thinks because of his interest in dirtbiking, the Titan will serve him well as a reliable and attractive truck for the next few years. Me? I’m still driving the ’01 Tundra, but think this would be the best time to sell it and buy something newer with low miles and a warranty. I’m frankly a little tired of driving hand-me-downs, but if this doesn’t work out, it’s a really nice truck and I’ll just keep it another year. Still, I’m hoping to sell the Tundra for close to the $12,000 I owe on it, and purchase a Jeep like the one below, with low miles for the low $20k’s. I’m looking to do this all in the next 2-3 weeks, or not at all. That’s not going to be without some effort on my part, but it’s an exciting prospect.

2001 Toyota Tundra Limited TRD w/Lift Kit and extras.

I’m thinking of buying an ’06 or ’07 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/SRT-8 Hemi engine, if I can find one with low miles for the right price.
